We had high hopes for our evening meal, and it started well. We had pre-booked and we noticed that they were turning people away as they were full. The starters were simply way too big. Now this is not necessarily a fault, but it's still a waste of good food, if you end up taking what you need and not scoffing just because its there. The quality of the starters was very good. I should point out at this point that i sent my starter of Chiffonade Jambon back as it came out on a piece of fake slate, something I will not tolerate! We ordered swordfish steak and red tuna steak for mains, but chose different accompaniments. The kitchen got this mixed up and we had to rectify this at the table. The swordfish consisted of 2 large slices of fish which was quite ridiculous, and seemed to have been overcooked. I was about 20% into the tuna steak, and decided that it had a strange taste to it, and immediately stopped eating any more. We decided to abandon the meal at this point, and asked for the bill. The waiter asked if everything was ok as our plates still looked full. I explained that the swordfish was very dry, and that in my opinion, the tuna was off. He offered something else, but once you have swallowed dodgy fish, the last thing you need is more food. We paid and left, but I was very ill between midnight and 2am which I can blame entirely on the tuna.I would have gone back to the restaurant the next day to ask for the price of the tuna to be refunded, but I didn't have the time. This restaurant needs to take care of it's food stock, and or it's hygiene.

The restaurant is really called Les Etoiles Basques , specialising in Basque cuisine ie Northern Spain. .We have eaten here a number of times and have never been disappointed. We ate octopus and swordfish served with tasty rice and vegetables , followed by a delicious Basque tart and we enjoyed a pichet of wine all for a total of €54 for the two of us which was very reasonable as we ate a la carte and the portions are generous. The set menus are also good value for money but we did not want the extra course. This service is always good and very friendly and we look forward to visiting again soon, and enjoying the view of the boats in the harbour.
